TEAM MEMBER HAND BOOK

Recreational Products Group is a company that envelopes Lake Effects Boat Rentals, Lake Effects Boat Club, Lake Effects Surf Shop, Lake Effects Gas Docks and CS Rentals at Queens Landing. RPG also manages two marinas on Lake Norman, both Midway and Stutts Marina.

Welcome TO or Welcome BACK to the team!

If you are new to Lake Effects, we are excited for you to join our TEAM! If you are returning this season, we are SO HAPPY to have you back!

Our goal to create an environment where we promote healthy relationships, family and TEAM spirit. We have fun as a team and love the bond we share. We take CUSTOMER SERVICE & SAFETY very seriously at Lake Effects and it is our TOP PRIORITY!

Work Ethic

Our team are motivated individuals that have a team mentality and is not afraid of hard work. Our Summers are extremely busy and we depend on our committed team members to work hard and as scheduled to fulfill excellent Customer Service for all of our customers.

EXPECTATIONS

BELOW are some expectations that we want to be up front about with each employee so that we are all on the same page. Please read through and let us know if you have any questions.

1. EMAILS:

Once you receive an email from RPG / Lake Effects / CS Rentals, be sure to reply back so that we know you have read the email. Always, please let your supervisor know if you ever have any questions. No question is stupid, they are all valid.

2. SCHEDULE:

The schedule is done a month in advance so please refer to your "when I work app” to accept those dates to work as soon as you can.
Punctuality is huge and being late will not be tolerated!
Time off requests especially in our Peak Season (May-August) need to be submitted AT LEAST 30 days in advance on you "When I Work App". Last minute requests will not be approved.
We rely on our team very much on weekends when we are busy during our peak season.

3. CLOCKING IN AND OUT

You must clock in and out at Lake Effects with your When I Work app. It will not let you clock in and out outside of the perimeter of the building. If for some reason you forget to clock in or out, please contact Sara by texting her at 704-929-3993 to let her know immediately so that it can be corrected on your time sheet.

4. UNIFORM

You will be given a Lake Effects or CS Rental Team member Shirt. Lake Effects or CS Rental shirts should be worn every shift.

LADIES

you may wear shorts, leggings, jeans etc. Please make sure length is appropriate and you look professional at all times.
You may wear a Lake Effects or Lake Norman hat

GUYS

Please wear black athletic style shorts (standard size, not short shorts)
You MUST wear tennis shoes with good traction. Docks can get slippery at times so shoes with good rubber soles and traction is very important.
Hats: You may wear a Lake Effects, Lake Norman, Qualified Captains or Hemlock hat. NO SPORTS hats.

5. PARKING

Midway employees, Please park up on the hill.
Stutts employees, Please park up in the upper parking lot.
CS employees, Please park in far parking lot closest to our boat rentals. Park toward the back to allow parking for our CS Rental and Boat Club members.

6. LUNCH BREAKS

Lunch Breaks are 30 minutes. You do NOT have to clock in and out for Lunch breaks. They are automatically deducted if you work 8 hours or longer. You may eat in the boat club lounge or outside. You may NOT eat behind the front counter at any time. You may bring your lunch or grub hub if you prefer. There will not be time run into town to get your lunch. BRING A WATER BOTTLE. We want you to stay hydrated!

Do you want to know what makes this team so great? Each team member has amazing gifts and input that they bring to the table and then together we implement those ideas to make both our customers experience awesome and each team members crucial role better and more efficient.

Our mission at Lake Effects is simple. It is to bring light to others and help facilitate memorable experiences for families. Thats the WHY behind what we do. We want you to know that you do have purpose and the opportunity to help others, love others and be a light to many “different” types of people that come through our doors. YOU do make a difference and we could not fulfill this mission without YOU!

Our verse for Lake Effects from the beginning 2008 is this….”Commit your work to the Lord and He will establish your plans”. We know who is in control and believe that God has guided us every step of the way and it definitely is not always easy. But we know His way is the best way!

Days at Lake Effects may not be easy sometimes but consider this….trials and hard times grow us and make us stronger and ready for whatever might come next. The most comforting thing to know with the TEAM at Lake Effects is that we will ALWAYS have each others back and be there to help each other. Let’s always remember to lift each other up and never tear anyone down. WE ALL mess up sometimes so it makes sense to show grace to a fellow team members when they make a mistakes. We are family. LOVE PEOPLE.
